Urban problems in Struga

One of the biggest problems facing Struga is the inadequate urbanization of the city, activists emphasize. They call for caution in the realization of urban plans, especially for the parts located near the shore of the lake. An additional problem is that the general urban plan for Struga is almost two decades old. The existing plan is for the year 2007. It was supposed to be valid until the year 2017, but no other plan has been approved.

"Inadequate urbanization, inadequate implementation of urban planning brings this situation. These are the solutions of the urban planners who created the urban plan. Not only for maintaining air quality, but it also affects the appearance of the city", said Marjan Gllavinceski - civil activist.

Another big problem in Struga is the burning of reeds where buildings are then built, usually without permission. No one takes responsibility.

"Individuals who plan to own the space for their own needs, they also reach the part that belongs to the state. On the other hand, it is surprising the disinterest of the state inspectorate and the inspectors who should act with official duties at the local level", said Nikolla Kukunesh-citizen activist.

The Alliance for Albanians has reacted to the problems in the urban and economic development of Struga. They accuse Ramiz Merko of not having a vision for the social welfare of the citizens.

"...Instead of dealing with the treatment of the general urban surface of the city and in the interest of all citizens, he deals with things that serve the interests of his close circle", Lulzim Nasufi said- president of ASH, Struga.

In November last year, the local government organized a public survey, but only for changing and supplementing a part of the general urban plan. Alsat asked the municipality when they plan to approve the new Plan and how they plan to solve the current urban problems, but they did not send us any answer./Alsat.mk
