Vlach National Day

Vlachs in the country today mark their national holiday 23 May, which with the Law on Holidays from 2007 it is also a state holiday and non-working day for members of the Vlach community.

By decision of the League of Vlachs and other Vlach associations, in year 1991 this day has been declared the National Day of the Vlachs from all over the world.

more 23 May of the year 1905, with special document (Will) of Sultan Abdul Hamid II, the Vlach people were recognized as a special people with the right to worship the Vlach language, the right to education in their mother tongue in their schools, with the right to select the mufti, as imposed by the laws of the Ottoman Empire.
