First Project Forum municipality of Vevcani

Today at the Youth Center – Vevcani held the first Project Forum Vevcani. Problems and solutions from several areas - education were proposed at the forum session, child protection and care, social policies, environment, NGO, agriculture, etc.. from which arose about 10 project ideas, which will be worked on in the next forum sessions.

The first forum session was attended by about 30 participants and was attended by the Mayor of Vevcani Mr. Sasho Jankoski, The President of the Council of the Municipality of Vevcani Mr. Dushko Gjurceski and the Project Manager from UNDP Ms. Lejla Nebiu who addressed the audience and welcomed the implementation of the project in the Municipality of Vevcani.

Holding forum sessions in the Municipality of Vevcani, together with the trainings for the councilors are part of the project "Strengthening of the municipal councils". The overall project is 3,4 millions of Swiss francs, funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and implemented by UNDP in partnership with the Ministry of Local Self-Government, Ministry of Finance, The community of local self-government units, Association of Financial Workers and UN Women.

After the successful implementation of the project, the completion of the trainings by the advisors and the completion of the five forum sessions, this year the municipality of Vevcani will receive two grants – 50.000 Swiss francs for priority projects to be selected by the citizens through forum sessions and 12,000 Swiss francs for the implementation of innovative IT solutions to increase the transparency and accountability of the municipality and the work of the Council.

The purpose of the forum held on the topic of Social Inclusion, is increasing the participation of citizens in the decision-making process at the local level. The forum is a tool for citizen participation in the preparation and selection of priority projects and it aims to improve life in the community., through mutual cooperation of the municipality and the citizens.
