“If I could, I would go out and kill dogs myself” Merco said according to Animal Voice

According to the claims of the Association for the Protection of Animals Animal voice, at the meeting held yesterday with the mayor of Struga, Ramiz Merko, were expelled. It came to her after the case of the killing of seven stray dogs by a citizen the day before yesterday, from the non-governmental organization highlighted their proposals, how to humanely solve the dog problem. But, Merco's answer amazed them.

"The mayor directly and openly told us that he would personally go out into the street and kill the dogs... that he would have exorcise them by now but could not find poison, after which we immediately submitted a report to the SVR Struga", Velat od „Animal voice“.

Alsat asked Merco today to hear his position on such claims, but he did not answer the phone calls. At the meeting, according to the association, the director of the Struski utility told them that they have millions of debts to citizens bitten by dogs. They had a budget of only 600.000 denars with which they would only sterilize themselves 100 female dogs, and there are over a thousand of them in the city. The only solution is exactly that.

"We, as a station, sent a request to the Municipality of Struga, castration is done and the dogs are localized in our station. This request was not fulfilled and now the breeding of dogs is a big problem, who come here from somewhere or are abandoned by unscrupulous people", says Seljami Reči, veterinary doctor.

The Food and Veterinary Agency in Struga, has only one inspector who is powerless to solve the problem alone. Otherwise, tomorrow in front of the Government in Skopje a protest will be held as a revolt against the killing of dogs and the failure to solve this problem in the cities.
